Rafiq Al HaRafiq Al Hami (also identified as Rafiq Bin Bashir Bin Jalud al Hami) was a Tunisian national. He was captured in Iran in 2001 and was held in Afghanistan until he was transferred to Guantanamo in 2003. He was imprisoned at Guantanamo for seven years, five of which were spent in solitary confinement. He was released to Slovakia in January 2010 and returned to Tunisia after the Arab Spring. In 2013, he left his Tunisian family, his new wife, his electronics shop and house to join an armed group in Syria. His family believe he had joined the armed group Jabhat Al-Nusra, fighting against the Syrian government. In October 2015, his family received an anonymous phone call telling them Al Hami had been killed.
