Adil Hakimjan

Biography
Adil Hakimjan, also known as Adel Abdulhehim and A'Del Abdu al-Hakim, is a Uyghur from the Xinjiang autonomous region. Hakimjan fled his home in 1999 after being imprisoned and tortured by Chinese authorities for allegedly belonging to the Eastern Turkestan Independence Movement. In 2001, Hakimjan was captured on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border and sold to American forces. He was kept in Kandahar, Afghanistan for six months, after which he was transferred to Guantanamo Bay. In 2006, Hakimjan was transferred to Albania. He then sought asylum in Sweden, and his bid was granted in April 2009.
