Adel Noori, an ethnic Uyghur from the Xinjiang autonomous region, was born in 1979. He was detained for over seven years in Guantanamo. He won his habeas corpus suit in 2008. Judge Ricardo Urbina declared his detention unlawful and ordered that he be set free in the United States. In October 2009, he was released to Palau, a remote nation of 20,000 people in the western Pacific Ocean, near Guam.
