Lt. Col. Darrel Vandeveld bio

Darrel Vandeveld is a former lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve. Beginning in November 2001 he served as a military lawyer in Bosnia, Africa, Iraq and Afghanistan. From June 2007 through September 2008, Vandeveld worked as a prosecutor for the Office of Military Commissions at Guantanamo. In September 2008, while acting as the lead prosecutor in the case against Mohammed Jawad (a minor at the time of arrest), Vandeveld resigned for ethical reasons after consulting with a Jesuit priest. He appeared as a witness for the defense. Vandeveld now resides in Erie, Pennsylvania.
