Mourad Benchellali bio

Mourad Benchallali is a French citizen who was captured in Afghanistan in November 2001 at the age of 19. He was transferred from U.S. to French custody in July 2004. He was tried and convicted in France in 2007, but the convictions were overturned by a French Court of Appeals in February 2009. In February 2010 a higher Court in France ordered a retrial.
