Guantanamo: A Turning Point in American History (2002-Present)

It has been over 10 years since the opening of Guantanamo. We created a resource educators could use to teach students about this important turning point in American history. Please download the free Powerpoint and guide to engage the next generation in thoughtful and dynamic discussion and debate.

There are different formats you can download depending on which platform (Windows or Mac OS) and which version of Powerpoint will be used. Each presentation is in a ZIP archive that includes all the necessary files for playback to ease downloading. Please keep the “videos” folder with the Powerpoint presentation for correct playback of the video segments.

Right-click or Control-click a link below and Save File/Link As to download the appropriate presentation to your computer.

Windows users, if you do not have Powerpoint but have permissions to install programs on your computer, use the link below to download the free Powerpoint 2007 Viewer.

Windows users, if you do not have Powerpoint and cannot install programs on your computer, download the CD version below. After downloading, unzip the file then copy all the contents of the “W2G Presentation (CD)” folder to a writable CD (CD-R). This CD-R can be used to play back the presentation on any Windows (2000, XP, Vista, 7) computer with a CD drive.

Having problems playing back the presentation?

If the video clips are not playing:

  1. Is the “videos” folder at the same folder level as the “Witness to Guantanamo” Powerpoint presentation file?
  2. If you are using Windows, do you have Windows Media 9 installed?
  3. If you are on a Mac, do you have Quicktime 7 installed?

If you are still having problems downloading or using the presentation, email us at witnesstoguantanamo@gmail.com. Please describe in detail which version you are using and the problem you are experiencing and we’ll do our best to assist you.
