Vijay Padmanabhan was an attorney adviser at the U.S. State Department, where he served as the Department’s lead counsel on law of war litigation. While in the State Dept., he collaborated with the Justice Department on Supreme Court cases, including Hamdan v. Rumsfeld and Boumediene v. Bush. He also led an inter-agency policy coordination committee on U.S. detention policy in the conflict with al Qaida. He currently teaches at Vanderbilt Law School.
