Kristine Huskey received her BA from Columbia University, and her JD from the University of Texas at Austin. She teaches in the National Security Clinic at the University of Texas School of Law, which she established in 2007 and served as Director for two years. She has also taught in the International Human Rights Law Clinic at American University Washington College of Law, was an adjunct professor in the International Human Rights Clinic at George Washington University Law School, an adjunct faculty adviser to the Howard University School of Law International Moot Court Team, and a visiting professor on international human rights and humanitarian law at Victoria University Law School in New Zealand. Huskey was an attorney in the Litigation and Arbitration practice group at Shearman & Sterling LLP for eight years. She began representing Guantanamo detainees in 2002, and worked on Rasul v. Bush in 2004, representing Omar Khadr, the young Canadian citizen charged with war crimes. She has represented over fifteen detainees, and published a memoir in 2009 titled “Justice at Guantanamo: One Woman’s Odyssey and Her Crusade for Human Rights.”
