Brigadier General John Adams retired from the U.S. Army in September 2007. He last served as Deputy United States Military Representative to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Military Committee in Brussels, where he helped coordinate the transfer of authority in Afghanistan from U.S. to NATO control. On September 11, 2001, he was Deputy Director for European Policy, serving in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
